Boys Varsity Basketball · Sokol Named New Head Coach For Boys Basketball

The Forsyth County Board of Education approved David Sokol as the next Head Boys Basketball Coach at North Forsyth High School at its meeting on Tuesday night.  Coach Sokol brings 16 years of high school head-coaching experience as well as five years as an assistant coach at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA.

Sokol is probably best known for his run at South Forsyth High School from 2002-2008, where he guided the War Eagles to four state tournaments including three “Sweet Sixteen” appearances.  He is the winningest coach in boys basketball history at South Forsyth.

Coach Sokol’s most recent tenure is at Flowery Branch High School where he took a team that had previously won five games to a state-tournament contender in a matter of four years.  He helped lead Flowery Branch to its first-ever Lanierland championship in 2015 before qualifying for the state tournament the following year, a feat it hadn’t accomplished since 2009.  Sokol was also named Region 8AAAAA Coach of the Year for the 2016-17 season.
