The meet was highlighted by sophomore Hailey Galbraith, who won the state title in the 50 free and also took home a silver medal in the 100 butterfly. Galbraith becomes just the 2nd North Forsyth swimmer to win an individual state title, joining Jack Dalmolin who won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke back in 2017. Her time of 23.74 broke her own school record and she also broke her own school record in the 100 butterfly earlier this year at the Forsyth County Championship.
Along with Hailey, Maryann Story joined in on the finals action by qualifying for the C final in the 500 free, just missing the school record for the 2nd year in a row. Also swimming in prelims were seniors Taryn Mahoney & Ainsley Triche, who swam their final individual races of their high school careers on Friday night. The Lady Raiders also brought back 2 relays for finals on Saturday (200 medley & 200 free). Triche, Mahoney, Galbraith, & Story led the 200 medley to a C final. Mahoney & Galbraith joined up with junior Abby Doedens & freshman Bella Landis on the 200 free relay for prelims and swam a time of 1:44.90 breaking the school record from this years County Championship. However, a relay change was made for finals that put Triche and Story back on the relay for finals and the record was broken yet again on Saturday night in a time of 1:43.20.
